After losing a record deal, Onerepublic turned to MySpace to release its music. After winning over fans with the song “Apologize,” Onerepublic caught the attention of several record labels.
Onerepublic released its smash thirdt album Native in 2012, and will drop a new album in 2016. Do not miss out on your chance to see pop rockers Onerepublic live in concert at the iHeartRadio Music Festival when you order Onerepublic tickets from OnlineTickets.com!
The pop-rock group Onerepublic formed in Colorado in 2002 as the brainchild of singer-songwriter and former Timbaland protégé Ryan Tedder and his high school classmate and guitarist Zach Filkins. The pair moved to Los Angeles where they recruited guitarist Drew Brown, drummer Eddie Fisher and bassist Brent Kutzle to fill out Onerepublic’s lineup.
As Onerepublic was set to release its debut record, its label Columbia records dropped the group in 2006. Almost at the point of breaking up, Onerepublic decided to utilize the social networking website MySpace. Onerepublic was able to gain a large gathering of fans by offering songs such as “Apologize” and “Stop and Stare” on their MySpace page.
Many artists have been able to utilize MySpace to win attention from record labels including the British alternative rock band, The Arctic Monkeys. Like the Arctic Monkeys, Onerepublic eventually won the attention of several record labels before choosing Mosley Music Group, which is owned by hip-hop producer Timbaland. Mosley Music Group released Onerepublic’s debut album Dreaming Out Loud in 2007.
Onerepublic’s lead single “Apologize” sold over 3 million digital downloads and was remixed by Timbaland for his album Shock Value. Onerepublic’s second single “Stop and Stare” was similarly successful selling over 2 million downloads. Fans of Onerepublic can find the group on tour in support of Dreaming Out Loud. OneRepublic has stood the test of time, unlike many in the “Indie” wave, and had their biggest album yet in 2014’s Native and single “If I Lose Myself.” Onerepublic is on tour in 2016, with new music and a spot at the iHeartRadio Music Festival.
