About Phish

After forming in Vermont during the 1980s, Phish would go from playing gigs in basements and touring the college circuit to becoming the very definition of a jam band. The quartet – comprised of Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon, Jon Fishman, and Page McConnell – had no idea that their extended jam sessions, electrifying group improvisations, and onstage antics and experimentations would have fans nationwide flocking to buy Phish tickets.

While drawing comparisons to the Grateful Dead, Phish had a sound and style all its own, offering fans with Phish tickets a playful mix of Rock, Heavy Metal, Jazz, Bluegrass, and Funk, along with a dose of goofy humor, incorporating trampolines, chess games, vacuums, and a giant hot dog into live performances. In 1988, Phish released Junta followed by Lawn Boy and A Picture of Nectar in the early 1990s.

Not long after, Phish would tour with the likes of Blues Traveler, The Violent Femmes, and later Carlos Santana. Whether Phish was touring amphitheaters or performing in major festivals, Phish fans would come out in mass. In the mid-‘90s, Phish released critically acclaimed albums filled with improvisational jams, including Billy Breathes and The Story of the Ghost before embarking on individual side projects after a 2000 Fall Tour.

Following a two-year hiatus, Phish got back to business, recording the album Round Room in only three days, touring extensively, and delighting thousands upon thousands of fans in the process. After releasing Undermind, Phish would tour for the last time in Summer 2004. After more than two decades and 13 studio-recorded albums together, Phish will treat Phish phans, phriends, and phamilies to a reunion concert tour in 2016.
